Scooter Mercato Engine Rebuild - Starting at $500.00 plus parts

After getting many request of "can't I just send this thing to you guys and you rebuild it?" we have decided to officially offer our engine rebuild service.

All rebuilds will be carried out by our experienced mechanic Matt Martin. Matt is the same person who does our stator re-wires. Many of you have spoken to Matt for technical advice on the phone. Matt has rebuilt hundreds of engines. Email us for references.

We have laid out the following steps to make sure that they are no surprises and your engine rebuild costs the least amount possible.

1. The first step is to send us pictures of your scooter and your engine. Email pics to Matt (click here) . We do not rebuild Vietnam engines or widebody engines. It's really important that you send us pics first, don't just send in your engine without communicating with us.

2.  Once you get confirmation from Matt that we can rebuild your engine, pack up your engine to ship to us.  Please follow our "how to pack an engine for shipping" guide.

3.  We have a very good shipping rates and will share them with you. If you want us to email you a shipping label, purchase the following item ENGINE INBOUND SHIPPING.  The costs is $50.00. Once the order is processed we will email you a shipping label. Of course you are welcome to take your engine to FedEx, UPS or hand deliver to us. Here are some sample rates for 24 x 24 x 24 box weighing 90lbs using our shipping label.

We checked the San Francisco rate and its $102.00 if you take it to the counter at Fedex office and pay for it yourself.

The actual shipping costs will be put on the final invoice and the initial $50.00 payment will be applied to the final invoice

4.  Once we have your engine we will dis-assemble it and assess any issues with the engine or any major part that we think is out of spec.  This takes approximately 2 hours.

5. Using the ENGINE REBUILD FORM and the information gathered from the dis-assembly / inspection, we will create an estimate for your engine rebuild. Every engine gets a minimum of one of our engine rebuild kits. Labor is: 

$500 (bench tested)
$600 (performance upgrade and road testing)

We will email you the estimate for your approval. No work will commence without an approved estimate. If for some reason you do not wish to go forward with the rebuild (could be your engine needs new cases or transmission) you will be charged $120 for the dis-assembly / inspection and return shipping. 

6. With an approved estimate, the engine rebuild can then begin. Your engine will be completely cleaned and then rebuilt to factory specs or with the modifications that you specified. Every engine will be bench tested or road tested.

7.  Upon completion we will safely pack your engine for shipping and calculate the return shipping. A final invoice will be created, and upon complete payment the engine will be shipped back to you.
